Aside from the reigning monarch, there is no face more commonly used on British coinage than that of Britannia. Jody Clark designed both the obverse and reverse side of the new Britannia Bars for the Royal Mint. Clark is famous for producing the fifth-generation portrait of Queen Elizabeth II currently in use on British coinage as of 2016, and for the 10 designs in the Queen’s Beast Collection from the mint.
The first use of Britannia on precious metals in Britain came during the unification of the crowns of England and Scotland. As the new United Kingdom took shape, Britannia was chosen as a symbol of that unified power on coins issued by the Royal Mint following the unification of the two crowns.
Today, Britannia famously features on the country’s gold and silver bullion coinage. These 100 oz British Silver Britannia Bars are available to you for either individual purchase or bulk purchase. The individual bars are housed in individual boxes, and the master box option includes five bars for a total of 500 Troy oz of silver.
