Design Details:

Obverse: Centers on the stately intaglio-engraved portrait of Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States, framed in an ornate laurel wreath vignette. The bold red Treasury seal appears to the right of the portrait, with the serial number A49834273A printed twice in red ink. "UNITED STATES NOTE" appears across the top, with "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "FIVE DOLLARS" in large intaglio lettering. The legal tender clause — "THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE" — appears to the left. Signatures of Treasurer Kathryn O'Hay Granahan and Secretary C. Douglas Dillon appear at the bottom.

Reverse: Features the classic intaglio engraving of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. — rendered in rich green ink against an ornate geometric border with "FIVE DOLLARS" and "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" framing the central vignette.

Historical Significance:
United States Notes — identified by their distinctive red seals and serials — are among the oldest and most historically significant forms of American paper currency, tracing their lineage directly to the Civil War-era "Greenbacks" issued by President Lincoln himself. The Series of 1963 $5 United States Note represents one of the final issues of this storied series before Legal Tender Notes were phased out of production entirely. Secretary of the Treasury C. Douglas Dillon served under President John F. Kennedy, making this note a tangible artifact of the Kennedy era — issued in the same year as one of the most significant moments in modern American history. Treasurer Kathryn O'Hay Granahan was one of the earliest women to hold the office of Treasurer of the United States, and her signature appears on some of the most collectible notes of the era.

Presentation:
This one-of-one note, bearing the unique serial number A49834273A, is presented in a protective rigid acrylic currency slab — ready for your collection or display.

A cornerstone Red Seal note for any U.S. currency collection — crisp, historic, and steeped in American legacy.
