Canadian Silver Maple Leafs chart a new course forward in 2024. With the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, the move was on to develop a new bust of King Charles III for coins throughout the Commonwealth. Since 1990, the Royal Canadian Mint has used its own Canadian-designed busts of monarchs for its coinage and unveils its own new bust of Charles III with its 2024 issues. The debut of Charles III on these coins marks the first Canadian Maple Leaf design with a new monarch on the obverse.
