Following the introduction of the Gold Maple Leaf in 1979, the Royal Canadian Mint expanded the series in 1988 with the debut of both the Silver Maple Leaf and the Platinum Maple Leaf. Originally offered in fractional-ounce sizes, the Platinum Maple Leaf has been available exclusively in a 1 oz weight since 2009.
The 2025 Platinum Maple Leaf’s obverse features a left-profile effigy of King Charles III, marking his second year on Canadian Maple Leaf coinage. Designed by Steve Rosati, this depiction follows tradition by presenting the reigning monarch without a crown.
On the reverse, the renowned sugar maple leaf design remains unchanged. Created in 1979 by Walter Ott, this symbol of Canadian heritage is a defining feature of all Maple Leaf bullion coins, appearing across the gold, silver, platinum, and palladium series.
Each 2025 1 oz Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf Coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Coins are individually packaged in plastic flips, while multiples of 10 coins are housed in protective tubes.
