Design & Symbolism
The obverse of the ½ Arizona Goldback Gold Note features a Spanish woman guarding a candle, representing faith and perseverance. Behind her stands San Xavier del Bac, known as the “White Dove of the Desert.” Founded in 1692 by Father Eusebio Kino, this historic mission near Tucson remains one of the finest examples of Spanish Colonial architecture in North America.
Completed in 1797, San Xavier del Bac embodies a fusion of European baroque artistry and indigenous craftsmanship, with ornate facades, frescoes, and statuary that reflect Arizona’s multicultural roots. Above the scene, white doves in flight symbolize peace, spiritual guidance, and the endurance of light through darkness.
Each ½ Arizona Goldback is presented in new, mint-fresh condition, available individually in currency sleeves or in bundles of 100 for stacking and storage. These notes are interchangeable with all other Goldbacks and serve as a tangible representation of Arizona’s spiritual, cultural, and economic heritage.
