The Florida 2 Goldback Gold Note continues the legacy of the Goldback Series, offering a beautiful and functional form of spendable gold currency. Goldbacks, first introduced with the Utah Goldbacks, bring the first usable gold currency to the United States in nearly a century. Made from 24-karat gold, these gold notes feature distinctive designs that celebrate the heritage of each state. Florida is the latest to join the series, debuting new denominations, including the 1/2, 2, and 100 Goldbacks.

Alpha Goldbacks are the first Goldbacks produced in a new series, marked by a small α (alpha) symbol next to the mintage date. The Wyoming Alpha Series is a limited first-edition collectible, with only a few manufactured. This rarity, combined with the distinctive Alpha symbol, makes them highly sought after and valuable among collectors and investors.

The 2 Florida Goldback Gold Note honors the indigenous heritage of Florida and the region’s rich, diverse history. The design showcases a tribal woman paddling a dugout canoe through the swampy estuaries of Florida. The backdrop features a village structure, with a manatee swimming beneath the water, illustrating the deep connection Florida’s indigenous tribes had with the land and water.

In 1513, when the Spanish first arrived in Florida, they encountered several sophisticated indigenous tribes, including the Timucua, Calusa, and Apalachee. Among them, the Calusa were particularly notable for their complex society centered around the southern Gulf Coast. They built impressive canal systems and artificial islands using shells and clay, and their sailing and fishing skills were unrivaled. Despite Spanish efforts to colonize and convert them to Christianity, the Calusa maintained their traditional practices and political structure longer than many other tribes.

This 2 Florida Goldback Gold Note is crafted with the same high-quality materials as other Goldbacks—thin layers of 24-karat gold combined with durable polymer, creating a beautiful, photorealistic note that serves as both a piece of currency and a collectible.

Celebrate the spirit of Florida’s indigenous cultures, their connection to the land, and the enduring legacy of Florida’s early history with this stunning gold note.
