The Idaho Goldback series introduces a new fractional denomination that continues the evolution of modern gold-based voluntary currency. Goldbacks are privately issued and consist of a thin layer of 24-karat gold sealed between durable polymer sheets, combining tangible precious metal value with a flexible, everyday-use format. As the series expands beyond its origins in Utah, Idaho adds a distinct regional identity rooted in natural landscape and classical symbolism.

Each 1/4 Idaho Goldback represents the smallest denomination currently available in the series, offering a precise fractional gold weight designed for accessibility and practical exchange. These notes maintain the same production standards as larger denominations, featuring .9999 fine gold content and advanced security elements. The design reflects both artistic detail and regional identity, reinforcing the blend of intrinsic value and cultural significance that defines the Goldback system.

Design & Features

The obverse of the 1/4 Idaho Goldback showcases Justitia, the Roman allegory of justice, positioned against the landscape of Hells Canyon. She is depicted with traditional symbolism that reflects balance, fairness, and enforcement. Her presence reinforces themes of equity and impartiality, core principles tied to both law and structured exchange.

Hells Canyon, carved by the Snake River, serves as the environmental backdrop. It is recognized as the deepest river gorge in North America, adding geographic significance to the note’s design. Supporting details include Idaho’s state flower, the syringa, and the monarch butterfly, the official state insect. These elements are integrated into the composition to reflect the state’s natural identity.

The reverse presents a mirrored version of the obverse design, consistent with Goldback production standards. Each note includes embedded gold, visible through the layered construction, along with security features such as UV-reactive ink and micro-detailing.

Each 1/4 Idaho Goldback offered is a precisely manufactured gold note with consistent gold content and quality. Notes are delivered as described, either individually sleeved or in bundled quantities depending on purchase size.
