Goldbacks are a privately issued, voluntary form of local currency produced from a thin layer of 24-karat gold secured between durable polymer layers. Each note contains a precisely measured fractional amount of physical gold and features detailed artwork tied to regional identity. First introduced in Utah, the series has expanded into multiple states, combining the intrinsic value of gold with a functional, exchangeable format. The Idaho Goldback Series continues this expansion, with each denomination reflecting themes connected to the state’s history and landscape.
The 100 Idaho Goldback Gold Note is the largest denomination in the series, containing 1/10 Troy oz of .9999 fine gold. Each note is produced using proprietary vacuum-deposition technology and incorporates advanced security features for authentication. This denomination represents the highest gold weight within the Idaho series and is designed for both collection and long-term holding.

Design & Symbolism
The obverse of the 100 Idaho Goldback Gold Note features Libertas, the Roman allegory of liberty, depicted striding forward with a shovel in hand. She is positioned in a field with Shoshone Falls in the background. Shoshone Falls is located on the Snake River near Twin Falls, Idaho, and drops approximately 212 feet. The falls were formed by the Bonneville Flood around 14,500 years ago and have long been recognized by Indigenous peoples of the region, including the Shoshone-Bannock tribes.
Libertas originates from Roman tradition and represents the concept of liberty as a civic and moral responsibility. She was commonly depicted in Roman coinage and public imagery as a symbol of freedom and independence. The inclusion of Libertas on this note connects classical symbolism with Idaho’s natural landscape, aligning the design with themes of independence, labor, and continuity.
Each 100 Idaho Goldback Gold Note is presented in new condition in an individual protective sleeve. These notes are interchangeable with other Goldback series issues and offer a higher-denomination gold format suited for both collectors and long-term holders. The Idaho release continues the expansion of Goldbacks as a physical gold product with defined weight, consistent design, and verifiable security features.
