Goldbacks are a privately issued, voluntary form of local currency produced from a thin layer of 24-karat gold secured between durable polymer layers. Each note contains a precisely measured fractional amount of physical gold and features detailed artwork tied to regional identity. First introduced in Utah, the series has expanded into multiple states, combining the intrinsic value of gold with a functional, exchangeable format. The Idaho Goldback Series continues this expansion, with each denomination reflecting themes connected to the state’s history and environmental landscape.
The 5 Idaho Goldback Gold Note contains 1/200 Troy oz of .9999 fine gold and represents a lower denomination within the series. Each note is produced using proprietary vacuum-deposition technology and incorporates advanced security features for authentication. This denomination is designed for smaller fractional use while maintaining consistent gold content and durability across circulation and storage.

Design & Symbolism
The obverse of the 5 Idaho Goldback Gold Note features a female allegory representing Clementia tending to wildlife in the aftermath of a wildfire. The design references the Great Fire of 1910, which burned approximately three million acres across Idaho, Montana, and Washington. The fire occurred in August 1910 and resulted in significant loss of life and destruction of multiple communities, including Wallace and Avery, Idaho. The event contributed to changes in national forest management policy and the expansion of fire suppression efforts.
Clementia originates from Roman tradition and represents mercy, restraint, and responsible stewardship. The allegory reflects the concept of measured response and care in the face of destruction. The integration of this figure with Idaho’s environmental history connects the design to themes of recovery, responsibility, and long-term land management.
Each 5 Idaho Goldback Gold Note is presented in new condition in an individual protective sleeve, with multiples of 20 available in bundled format. These notes are interchangeable with other Goldback series issues and offer a fractional gold format suited for both collectors and practical use. The Idaho release continues the expansion of Goldbacks as a physical gold product with defined weight, consistent design, and verifiable security features.
